BMW Class Action

Welcome to Shepherd, Finkelman, Miller Shah, LLC’s (“SFMS”) website for its investigation of BMW Vehicles Equipped With Run-Flat Tires.

SFMS is currently investigating allegations that BMW vehicles equipped with run-flat tires are wearing unevenly and prematurely, thus, causing owners and lessees to replace the tires after a very short life-span. On average, it appears that consumers' tires are wearing unevenly especially on the inner shoulder of the tires and many have to replace the tires prematurely. Further, the vehicles equipped with run-flat tires do not come standard with a spare tire and replacement tires are not readily available. Other complaints included that BMW vehicles equipped with the run-flat tires do not handle well, as owners and lessees have reported experiencing difficulty with steering and rough rides. BMW issued a technical service bulletin SI B36 02 05 ("TSB") in July 2014, which covers Model E60 (5 Series) equipped with Dunlop SP Sport 01 DSST Run-Flat tires. The TSB states that noise and vibration may be caused by irregular tire wear. For this particular model, BMW will replace all four tires if the tires have less than 20,000 miles. Tires which have been in use for more than 20,000 miles are not eligible for coverage under the TSB. Further, the tires must have a feathered or scalloped edge on the inner tread blocks, to qualify for service under the TSB.
